Langholm Golf Club
Langholm Golf Club is a challenging hillside 9 hole golf course offering spectacular views from every hole, including the mountains of the Lake District to the south west.
Founded in 1892 Langholm golf course has been through several design changes over the years, and today’s course is a challenging test for golfers of all abilities, particularly well suited to the mid-handicapper.
The first captain of Langholm Golf Club was Thomas Moses, director of the world-famous cloth makers Reid & Taylor, which manufactures the cloth for Augusta’s famous Green Jackets.
Located a few miles over the border, just off the A7, Langholm is perfectly located for visitors to Scottish Borders, Cumbria, Northumbria and Dumfries & Galloway. There are no restrictions for tee times, other than competition weekends. The clubhouse is very welcoming to visitors and catering can be provided for parties by arrangement.
The golf driving range, 9 hole course and resident Pro make Brighouse Bay an ideal destination for families and those new to the game, while the 18 hole Championship course is must play for more experienced golfers.
Golf packages are available in luxury lodge accommodation in the award winning Holiday Park of Brighouse Bay, which is adjacent to the course.
The short par 4 7th routinely catches the over adventurous golfer. The green is cut off in front and right by a large ravine, bounded by trees on the left with an out of bounds to the rear. The ideal way to play this hole is an accurate drive down the fairway followed by a short pitching wedge to the centre of the green – easier said than done
