Moffat Golf Club

Moffat Golf Club enviable location, high on Coats Hill overlooking the charming town of Moffat, makes this 18 hole golf course one of the region’s most scenic, providing spectacular views from its fairways and greens.

Originally founded in 1884, the golf course was redesigned in 1904 by Ben Sayers to create one of the most attractive, varied and interesting inland courses in Scotland.

This heathland course has some wonderfully testing holes, full of natural undulations and hazards, with testing blind shots that feel less daunting on a repeat play.

In addition to the fantastic course and stunning panoramic views of rural Dumfries & Galloway, the welcoming clubhouse provides changing rooms with warm showers, buggy and trolley hire, and a restaurant serving delicious hot and cold food.

Its location just off the M74 makes Moffat an exceptionally good value day trip course for visitors from central Scotland or north of England. Booking is advisable at the weekends and during the summer months.

Course Highlight

The 9th hole called Port Arthur is Moffat’s signature hole. This par 3 requires a blind shot over a high cliff face to a hidden green, and the changeable strength and direction of the wind can make or break your score.

Perfect Partners

Drive through the stunning Dalveen Pass to enjoy some wonderful parkland golf at Thornhill golf club, or head south to Lochmaben golf club, one of Dumfries & Galloway’s rising star courses.
