Thornhill Golf Club
Thornhill Golf Club presents a mature blend of parkland and heathland with beautiful views of the picturesque Southern Uplands, this 18 hole golf course is the home course of European Tour pro and 1999 Ryder Cup team member Andrew Coltart.
Over relatively level terrain the golf course provides a good test for all golfers with some challenging holes, and it’s likely to be particularly appealing to mid and low handicappers.
Thornhill in Dumfries & Galloway is a picturesque town, with an excellent mix of accommodation, restaurants and cafes and independent retailers, close to Drumlanrig Castle, the stately home of the Duke of Buccleuch.
During the week Thornhill Golf Course is relatively easy to get on to, although booking is advisable during the summer and weekends. Golfing parties are welcome with the only restriction on visitor tee times being competition days.
Course Highlight
The 15th is arguably the signature hole of the course. You’ll need to drive the ball down a narrow fairway which dog legs sharply to the left, avoiding a large pond and scrub. You’re faced with a ditch running down the left and out of bounds and the railway on the right as the fairway narrows towards the green.
